GBDC hosted a three-day residential session towards developing a National Book and Reading Policy (NBRP)
The Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC) hosted a three-day residential session towards developing a National Book and Reading Policy (NBRP). The NBRP is being developed in collaboration with the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Ghana Library Authority (GhLA), Department of Publishing Studies, African Publishers Network (APNET), and other book industry stakeholders. The NBRP is one of the strategies in the Medium-Term National Development Policy Framework (2026-2029) to promote lifelong learning, address the low level of reading culture among Ghanaians, and incentivize indigenous writers and publishers to meet the country’s book needs. The NBRP outlines strategies and activities to ensure a vibrant, innovative, and sustainable national book industry, contributing to the attainment of the SDGs, particularly SDG 4.
